Victoria Wong

Clinical Psychologist

MClinPsych., BPsychSc. (1st Hons)
Registered Clinical Psychologist (SRP)
Registered Psychologist (AHPRA, Australia)
Accredited Triple P Provider

Victoria received her Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Queensland and worked as a clinical psychologist at Changi General Hospital (CGH) before coming out to private practice. Working with her clients, she grew to see how our childhood experiences keenly impact and shape us even as adults. Her interest in the Attachment Framework drew her to The Psychology Atelier and is now a cornerstone for her therapeutic practice.

She believes that it is only when we feel safe that we can bravely encounter our raw truths, feel, heal, learn, grow and thrive. Creating and maintaining a psychologically safe space with her clients to explore, reclaim and make sense of their experiences is therefore the utmost priority in her practice.

Therapeutic Orientation

Victoria anchors her practice on the Attachment Framework. She uses evidence-based approaches including schema therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) frameworks, and incorporates self-compassion, mindfulness, acceptance and values-based work to meet her clients’ individual needs. Through these approaches, she uses a careful balance of deep emotional processing and skill-building to support her clients’ learning and growth.

Victoria first became a psychologist because she was inspired by the strength and courage she witnessed in clients when attending an observation programme with a mental health institution. Today, she continues to be constantly inspired and humbled by the same. She finds empowering her clients to rediscover their forgotten or minimised strengths a truly rewarding experience and key to their growth. When we see and accept ourselves for our strengths alongside our weaknesses, just as we are, we feel more centred and can live more internally-guided lives.

Outside of her therapeutic work, Victoria enjoys providing workshops and training programs. She sees empowering others with valuable psychological knowledge as her way of giving back and finds it extremely rewarding. Victoria was part of the Assessment and Shared Care Team (ASCAT) at CGH and provided training programs on various mental health and mental health-related conditions to community mental health professionals in Singapore. She has also prepared webinars and workshops for members of the public.Ā

She is passionate about celebrating and empowering parents in Singapore who have bravely decided to break patterns of intergenerational trauma and want to do it differently. She especially enjoys working with parents keen for knowledge and practical skills to help their children grow and thrive in their care.
