Circle of SecurityĀ® Parenting⢠(COSPā¢) programme
An Attachment-based early intervention programme to help us map and mitigate our struggles as parents/caregivers
-
Based on 60 years of research on parenting, child development, and parent-child relationship
-
Internationally-acclaimed and attended globally by parents, professionals, and educators
-
Aims to strengthen our relationship with our children – the basis to build their sense of security and our parenting confidence
Why COSPā¢: A Path to Good Enough
Do you doubt if your parenting is “good-enough” to grow your child’s confidence?
ā
Do you struggle to manage your child’s “problem behaviours” such as tantrums?
ā
Do you lose your temper often when interacting with your child?
To have a look at the COSP™ materials and its principles, we highly recommend visiting their website:

What sets COSP⢠apart?
“It’s easier said than done. The real challenge is actually being able to recall and practise the scientifically-proven parenting advice calmly when my child or I am upset.”
ā
That’s how caregivers frequently think about the countless parenting advice they have read and heard.
ā
We can only successfully practise the parenting advice we learn when we are aware of our own caregiving triggers. COSP™ is different from other parenting programmes in that it helps caregivers to reflect on and understand their own blindspots that get in the way of effective parenting.
What can you expect in COSP™?
Using a reflective approach, our Registered COSP™ Facilitator will work with a small group of parents/caregivers through:
ā
-
8 x 90-minute sessions – this format is recommended for programme effectiveness
-
Videos of parent-child interactions – to foster understanding of attachment security
-
Reflective exercises – to increase caregivers’ awareness of their own blindspots and triggers
-
Visual diagrams – that map out children’s needs and how to attune to them to build security and mitigate “problem behaviours”
-
One-page tip sheets – with concise instructions for caregivers to repair parent-child ruptures
Ultimately, COSP™ aims to help parents approach their children with more sensitivity. Rather than striving for perfection, COSP™ focuses on cultivating a safe environment for children to express their needs and for parents to respond in an understanding manner which encourages better emotional regulation in children.
