About Judith Lim

Principal Counsellor

Master of Social Science (Counselling)

Registered Counsellor (SAC)

Master Solution-Focused Practitioner

Judith is an experienced counsellor with more than 15 years of combined counselling experience, supporting couples, families and individuals through relationship and life challenges. A Master Solution-Focused Practitioner, she adopts a collaborative and strengths-based approach, helping clients recognise their resources and explore possibilities for meaningful change. Her practice is also informed by systemic, attachment and emotion-focused perspectives, particularly in her work with couples and families.

Judith believes that people have strengths and resources within them, even when these may be difficult to recognise during challenging times. â€‹She brings warmth, creativity and appropriate humour into the therapeutic space. She believes there can be room for both depth and lightness in therapy, allowing meaningful conversations to unfold in a way that feels natural and human.

Judith enjoys cooking, exploring good food and listening to music. She also finds quiet joy in simply doing nothing sometimes, observing people and the world around her, and allowing creativity to emerge.

Therapeutic Orientation

Judith's therapeutic philosophy is grounded in curiosity, respect and an appreciation that each person's experiences are unique. She values creating a space where clients can feel comfortable exploring different perspectives and finding ways forward that are meaningful to them.

Judith’s primary therapeutic orientation is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), a strengths-based approach that supports clients in recognising their resources and exploring possibilities towards their preferred future.

Her practice is also informed by systemic, attachment and emotion-focused perspectives, particularly in her work with couples and families. Where appropriate, she incorporates experiential and expressive approaches to encourage emotional awareness, creative exploration and new perspectives, according to each client’s needs and readiness.

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Experience

Judith brings a wealth of experience with over 15 years of counselling across family service centres, youth and counselling centres, schools, and private practice.

Much of her experience with couples and families was built within the community setting, where she supported clients through a wide range of relational challenges. Her work with couples spans premarital and marital concerns, conflict resolution, communication issues, as well as separation and infidelity. She is no stranger to complex familial situations requiring specialised support. With parents, she has helped families navigate co-parenting and parent-child relationships.

With children and adolescents, Judith supports emotional regulation, learning differences, and behavioural challenges. She also works with clients on grief, personal development, and major life transitions.

Beyond direct therapy, she provides clinical and peer supervision to social workers and counsellors, leads volunteer training, and delivers psychoeducational talks across corporate, school, and media platforms. Grounded in a relational and systemic approach, Judith works collaboratively with each client, empowering them to draw on their own strengths and resources to navigate their circumstances.

"Explore with curiosity, discover your strengths, and create new possibilities."
